Etixx-Quick Step signs Łukasz Wiśniowski

Łukasz Wiśniowski has signed a two-year contract with Omega Pharma Quick-Step.

After two years with Etixx team, Łukasz Wiśniowski will be joining Belgium-based ProTour team that changes its name to Etixx-Quick Step next year.

Łukasz is a rider who has a great knowledge about the situation in the race

– said René Andrle, Sport director of Etixx Team.

He moves excellently in the peloton. He has a consistent performance and shape throughout the year, which he proved this year by his exceptional results. In the spring part, he belonged to the best riders in our category. He takes the preparation very seriously, he is spending the whole winter in Calpe and during the season, he is preparing himself before the important races in Livigno or in Karpacz. He spends lot of training time with Michał Kwiatkowski, which means a good source of experience for him as well. Since the first days with our team, łukasz was proving to be devoted to his dream of becoming the pro rider, which comes through now at the number one team in the world

– he added.

22-year-old Polish cyclist was riding for continental team Etixx, which serves as a development team for OPQS, for past two seasons. He raced in many UCI races across Europe and has grown up as professional rider.

I’m very happy that next year I will have an opportunity to be part of OPQS family

Wiśniowski said.

“Wiśnia” earned the contract with very good results in the races from Europe Tour calendar. In 2013 he won the stage of Thuringen Rundfahrt U-23 and became double Polish U-23 champion. This year he won Circuit des Ardennes (2.2), Kattekoers (1.2), stage of Tour de Normande (2.2) and was 6th in Tour de Bretagne.

I can definitely say that my dream comes true. I am convinced that this team is the best place for me to develop my cycling abilities and gain a lot of experience. I would like to thank every person that I had pleasure to meet and work with in the Etixx team. It was an awesome two years for me. Also, I am very greatful to Patrick Lefevere for believing in me and giving me a chance to be a pro rider. I’m looking forward to riding in an OPQS jersey next year,

– added new rider of QPQS.

In Etixx-Quick Step young Pole will join his two older compatriots – Michał Gołaś and Michał Kwiatkowski.
