Matteo Trentin (Etixx-Quick Step) zwyciężył w 109. edycji Paryż-Tours.

26-letni Włoch na Avenue de Grammont w Tours wyprzedził Tosha Van der Sande (Lotto) i Grega van Avermaeta (BMC Racing Team).

Maciej Bodnar (Tinkoff – Saxo) dotarł na metę na 89. miejscu.

Wyścig miał niecodzienny przebieg, ponieważ tuż po starcie peleton pękł na trzy części. Z przodu znalazło się 30 kolarzy, w tym Arnaud Demare (FDJ), Tiesj Benoot (Lotto), Greg Van Avermaet (BMC), Tony Gallopin (Lotto), Edward Theuns (Topsport Vlaanderen), Tosh Van der Sande (Lotto), Gianni Meersman (Etixx), Yves Lampeart (Etixx), Alexis Gougeard (Ag2r), Pavel Brutt (Tinkoff), Matteo Trentin (Etixx), Roger Kluge (IAM).

Pościg podjęły ekipy Cofidisu, Europcar i Treka, których przedstawicieli zabrakło z przodu, jednak niewiele z tego wynikało. Strata rosła, zbliżając się do 5 minut w połowie dystansu. Tempo było bardzo wysokie, po trzech godzinach średnia przekraczała 50 km/godz.

Kontrę podjęła grupa z ubiegłorocznym zwycięzcą Yelle Wallaysem (Topsport Vlaanderen), Marco Marcato (Wanty), Nacerem Bouhannim (Cofidis) i Niki Terpstrą (Etixx). 64 kilometrów przed metą zbliżyli się na 2:45, ale czołówka nie pozwoliła później na wiele więcej.

28 kilometrów przed kreską wyrosła pierwsza z trzech hopek – Côte de Crochu (900 m; 3,9%). Czołówka trzymała się nadal razem, a próby odskoków mniej znanych zawodników gasły po kilkuset metrach.

Kilkanaście sekund udało się w końcu zdobyć dwójce Romain Combaud (Equipe Cycliste Armée de Terre), Arnaud Gerard (Bretagne – Séché), jednak przed Côte de Beau Soleil (221,5 km; 400 m; 8%) i ta akcja przeszła do historii.

Na krótkim podjeździe Trentin rozbujał tempo, a po poprawce na Côte de l’Epan (224 km; 500 m; 8%) w grze pozostał Włoch z Van der Sande i Van Avermaetem. Reszta uciekinierów traciła 23 sekundy.

Trójka z bezpieczną przewagą wpadła na ostatnią 800-metrową prostą. Na finiszu odpuścił Van Avermaet, któremu zeszło powietrze z przedniego koła, a szybki Trentin pokonał Van der Sande, odnosząc zasłużony sukces.
